For Mathura Viswanathan, the founder and artistic director, Bharathanatyam is a way of life - An art form that transcends cultural and lingual barriers and communicates in a language devoid of mysticism. People like Kalaimamani Smt. Krishnakumari Narendran & Natanamamani Sri A.Lakshman have been her guiding light on this path into the world of dance.
…the nuances of dance
Now under the tutelage of Sri A.Lakshman, she is one of the prime disciples of Nrithyalakshana. Always a student despite having given numerous public performances, she is fine-tuning her skills of abhinaya from Padmavibushan Smt.Kalanidhi Narayan and Nrithyachoodamani Smt. Priyadarsini Govind. She is also trained under the guidance of Bagavatulu Sri Seetharama Sharma for her nattuvangam skills.

1997 marked the first milestone of her debut public performance and there has been no looking back since. Personification and poise is what marks her presentation of this fine dance form. Several critics have acclaimed her stage presence and footwork abilities.

With a master’s degree in media studies and Human Resources, she strives to blend her abilities in the right proportion to carve a niche for her self. An active participant in various programs presented by Smt. Krishnakumari Narendran & Sri A.Lakshman, her repertoire includes performing at various cultural organizations in India, US and UK. And in the past she has graced many a lead role in her gurus’ dance ballets and projects.

Mathura has staged a solo thematic dance project on the Indian saint Meera Giridhara Gopala and Sri Shakthi. She has performed widely in the US covering cities like Washington DC, Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas, Houston, LA, San Francisco, Pittsburgh and a few more in UK.
Some of the endowments she has won include Dharmavarapu Seetharama Anjaneyalu for the best all rounder in the year 2004,the Balasaraswathi prize for best performance in the year 2005, Spirit of youth/Music Academy’s best dancer award in the year 2006.
